Job Responsibilities

This is a professional nursing position primarily responsible for providing care to students and performing related nursing services, including maintenance of acceptable health records consistent with medical standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducts physical, visual and auditory screening examinations of students and employees;
  • Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees;
  • Assists at school immunization clinics;
  • Prepares and maintains health records for school authorities;
  • Consults with teachers, staff members and administration concerning a variety of health factors related to communicable disease and general safety and sanitary conditions;
  • Maintains inventory and storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment;
  • Coordinates transportation of sick or injured students to home, medical office, or hospital in cases of emergency;
  • Prepares records and reports as required; and additional responsibilities as required.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Step 1 ($43,715.43/yr) – Step 8 ($57.096.21/yr) prorated

CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement

 

Certifications/Qualifications

Current NYS Registered Nurse license and CPR/AED certification required. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibits good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Solid working knowledge of nursing techniques and practices, including dietetics, sanitation and personal hygiene. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
