Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the efficient and economical landscape maintenance of campus grounds, recreational areas, athletic fields, parking lots and roadways.  The routine work is performed under the general direction and assignment of the crew chief and is regularly inspected.  This position provides essential services for the District operations, requiring availability in the event of adverse weather conditions and/or emergency purposes.  Responsibilities include:

  • Performs daily landscape maintenance for all campus grounds and exterior areas including lawns, trees/hedges, shrubs/flowerbeds, parking lots, walkways, recreational areas, and athletic fields. 
  • Performs routine activities including, but not limited to weeding, mowing, raking, fertilizing, seeding, clearing debris, cultivating, striping fields, shoveling, salting, sanding, plowing, and removing snow;
  • Operates and maintains landscaping tools and equipment including spreaders, mowers, blowers, trimmers, tractors, trucks, and snow removal equipment.
  • Removes leaves, debris, and litter from walkways, playgrounds, parking lots, and other outdoor areas.
  • May perform minor repairs and maintenance to outdoor facilities, including playground equipment, fences, benches, and outdoor signage; and additional responsibilities as required.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Step 1 ($24.56/hr) - Step 5 ($26.56/hr)

Certifications/Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and good mechanical aptitude with demonstrated desire to learn.  NYS Commercial Driver License – Class B preferred. Working knowledge and skills for operating tools and equipment used in landscaping maintenance.  Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions.  Exhibit good motor and hand/eye coordination, mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, thoroughness, good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy.  Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

Shenendehowa Central School District covers approximately 86 square miles serving families from the communities of Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Ballston Lake, Round Lake, Malta, and parts of Waterford, Rexford, Mechanicville, and Stillwater. Approximately 9,850 students attend eight elementary schools (gr. K-5), three middle schools (gr. 6-8), and a high school (gr. 9-12). Shenendehowa is one of the largest central schools in the area.

 

Compensation & Benefits

$165/day for Certified Teachers

$127/day for Uncertified Teachers
