Shenendehowa Central School District is now accepting applications for Substitute Teachers.  The District is seeking culturally proficient individuals who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Profile of a Shenendehowa Employee.

 

Shenendehowa Central School District covers approximately 86 square miles serving families from the communities of Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Ballston Lake, Round Lake, Malta, and parts of Waterford, Rexford, Mechanicville, and Stillwater. Approximately 9,850 students attend eight elementary schools (gr. K-5), three middle schools (gr. 6-8), and a high school (gr. 9-12). Shenendehowa is one of the largest central schools in the area.

 

Compensation & Benefits

$165/day for Certified Teachers

$127/day for Uncertified Teachers

Expectations

Substitute teachers will assume all duties and responsibilities in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

  • Execute lesson plans as prepared by the teacher and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Effectively manage a classroom and respond to students with personalized learning opportunities.
  • Engaging students in lessons and activities in a compelling, clear, and challenging way.
  • Using real-world context and integrating technology when appropriate.
  • Continually assessing and analyzing student learning, and making adjustments that have a  positive impact on student learning.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment for all students.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the building Principal.

Expectations

Substitutes for support staff positions will assume all duties and responsibilities in the absence of the regular support staff, which varies dependent upon position.

  • Execute a job as informed by the department manager/building principal and work collaboratively withcolleagues.
  • Respond effectively and professionally to staff and students.
  • Use real-world context and integrate technology when appropriate.
  • Continually assess and analyze the environment, making adjustments that have a positive impact on the student’s environment and overall learning experience.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment for all students.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the department manager/building principal.

Job Responsibilities

Performs routine kitchen duties.  Provides assistance in the preparation and service of food and is responsible for the cleaning of all kitchen equipment; completes other related work as required. This person should possess excellent people skills.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Step 1 ($15.50/hr) – Step 6 ($16.27/hr)

CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement

 

Certifications/Qualifications

Experience in restaurant/hotel dining preferred.  Good working knowledge of proper methods for serving food and the care of kitchen supplies and equipment.  Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions.  Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibit thoroughness, good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy.  Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
