Job Responsibilities
Head Lifeguards are responsible for assisting the Aquatics Coordinator with the implementation and training of all lifeguards and pool staff of the emergency action safety plan for the District Aquatics Center pool. Head Lifeguards perform routine patrol of the pool activities, coordinates and supervises lifeguards and enforces compliance with pool rules, supervises the pool area, including all activities and instruction that takes place in the pool, and surrounding areas such as locker rooms when pool is unoccupied. Head Lifeguards stand watch and/or patrols swimmers and providing assistance when they are in difficulty, applying resuscitation techniques and renders first aid when necessary. Head Lifeguards are responsible for modeling appropriate social skills, facilitating social interaction, assisting with pool safety, instructing beginner swimmers, and attending to student physical needs which may include assisting with equipment, and other related duties as assigned. Specific tasks will vary depending upon grade level and activities assigned.

$16.50/hour
Certifications/Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED), two (2) years’ experience as a lifeguard in a pool facility, and basic life support cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and Senior Life Saving Certificate from the Red Cross or it’s equivalent certifying agency. Working knowledge of first aide, life saving, and rescue work as applied to accidents in the water. Ability to swim well and establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Ability to keep records and make simple reports and arithmetic computations. Exhibit good judgement, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. Experience working with youth, preferred.
