Shenendehowa Central School District anticipates a vacancy and is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Certifications/Qualifications
- NYS Special Education Certification
- Experience working with students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of alternate assessment and functional curriculum frameworks.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction using evidence-based strategies tailored to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Implement a functional academic curriculum focused on communication, social interaction, independence, and pre-vocational skills.
- Support students in activities of daily living and foster independence across school settings.
- Collect data and progress monitor student goals and objectives aligned to IEPs.
- Collaborate with related service providers, teaching assistants, general education teachers, and families.
- Create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth.
- Facilitate mainstreaming opportunities as appropriate.
- Participate in team meetings, annual reviews, and professional development activities.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and district policies.
