School District Data Specialist

District-Wide

8 hrs/day, 12 mos/year

 

Shenendehowa Central School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications.  The District is seeking culturally proficient individuals who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Profile of a Shenendehowa Employee.

 

Job Responsibilities

The position is responsible for administering the data needs of the district in compliance with Federal and NYS Education Department data and accountability requirements, including the conversion of accurate data from several divergent databases, retrieving and extrapolating data into meaningful reports for District use.  Responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement processes related to current NYSED and Federal reporting requirements, deadlines, and establishes codes to ensure accurate data reporting;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning, designing, and managing a variety of school-based data technology system(s) and infrastructure;
  • NYS and Federal data coordination, verification, reporting, and analysis, including alignment of data with state and federal codes;
  • Manage, in collaboration with other key stakeholders, the district Student Information System;
  • Generates and presents meaningful information to a variety of stakeholders that can be used to inform curricular, instructional, staff development, and student program improvements;
  • Creates and completes statistical reports as directed by administration;
  • Recommends hardware and software solutions that will improve the district’s ability to use data in a meaningful way;
  • Presents studies involving collected, analyzed, and interpreted data on assigned projects;
  • Develops systems for collecting and evaluating data for a variety of school initiatives and projects;
  • Ensures integrity and consistency of all district data and their corresponding systems; and other related activities as required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000/yr, commensurate with experience

District Administrative Support Staff (DASS)

 

Certifications/Qualifications

Associate’s degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited registered college or university in an education-related field, information services, or systems analysis and three (3) years hands on data analysis related experience working in an education environment.  Working knowledge of data collection, management, and reporting requirements of NYS Education Department.  Ability to review multiple management systems for validation, alignment, and consistency.  Ability to analyze, prepare, communicate and present technical data to a variety of stakeholders with varying levels of understanding.  Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibit good judgement, mental alertness, tact and courtesy.  Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

*THIS WILL BE A PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT* In order to be appointed permanently to this competitive position the individual must take the Saratoga County civil service exam for the job classification of School District Data Specialist and be reachable on the resulting Saratoga County civil service list.
