1.0 FTE Probationary Position

Certifications/Qualifications

  • Valid New York State (NYS) certification in Music Education (K-12).
  • Experience teaching high school chorus, vocal lessons, music theory, and special
    education music classes.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to engage a
    diverse population of high school students.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into music instruction.
  • The ability to play piano and other musical instruments is required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans for high school chorus, fostering advanced vocal technique, music reading skills, and ensemble performance.
  • Teach music theory courses covering music fundamentals, harmony, ear training, and music history.
  • Develop and implement adaptive music curriculum and instruction for special education students, addressing a range of abilities and needs.
  • Foster an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in all courses and lessons, providing timely feedback and differentiated instruction as needed.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance music learning.
  • Organize and direct school concerts, performances, and festivals.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
