Certifications/Qualifications
- Valid New York State certification in Music Education (K-12).
- Strong pedagogical skills in general music and choral instruction.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to engage elementary students.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into music instruction.
- Ability to play piano and other musical instruments is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans for general music classes that promote musical literacy, appreciation, and skills (singing, playing instruments, movement, listening).
- Develop and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans for elementary chorus, fostering vocal technique, music reading skills, and ensemble performance.
- Foster an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity in music.
- Assess and monitor student progress in both general music and chorus, providing timely feedback and differentiated instruction as needed.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance music learning.
- Organize and direct school concerts and performances.
