Teacher Aide (Alternative to Suspension)

6.5 hrs/day, Temporary through 6/30/2025
Shenendehowa Central School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications. The District is seeking culturally proficient individuals who actively foster an engaging environment where students can develop confidence in their own success consistent with the Profile of a Shenendehowa Employee.
Job Responsibilities
This individual will be responsible for supervising small groups of students who struggle in the general learning environment and who attend school for a limited number of hours per day/days per week as an alternative to suspension. The individual will follow a structured plan for the students provided by the teachers and/or tutors. Responsibilities include monitoring student’s behavior, providing positive feedback, keeping students on task and redirecting students as necessary. This individual may be assigned other responsibilities in the classroom to support the program.
Compensation & Benefits
Step 1 ($20.72/hr) – Step 5 ($23.23/hr)

Certifications/Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and experience with youth desirable. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibit good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
