Building Maintenance Mechanic
District Wide
8 hrs/day, 12 mos/year
Mon-Fri, 2nd shift, 2pm – 10:30pm
Shenendehowa Central School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications. Job Responsibilities
Performs a variety of commercial building maintenance and repairs including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, wiring/cabling installations, carpentry, plumbing, heating/cooling, and masonry responsibilities of a skilled nature. Utilizes work order system to identify tasks/jobs, record time and materials, and update status of tasks/jobs and/or projects. Assists operations and grounds departments with painting and snow removal as needed. Maintains both the interior and exterior of District facilities; additional responsibilities as assigned. Ability to read and interpret building plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints, and specifications is essential.
Compensation & Benefits
Step 1 ($25.68/hr) – Step 5 ($29.92/hr)

Certifications/Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and one (1) year experience as a journeyman in one of the recognized skilled trades with good working knowledge of one or more additional trades OR four (4) year’s work experience in commercial building construction or maintenance in one or more of the skilled trades. Thorough working knowledge of the practices, processes, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade for which experience is gained. Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions, interpret plans diagrams, and architectural blueprints. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibits mechanical aptitude, dependability, thoroughness, good judgment, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position including ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, climb/stand on tall ladders, and work in tight spaces. Must possess and maintain NYS Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.
