Job Responsibilities
Special education teacher aides are responsible for providing assistance to teachers in non-teaching capacity to assist students with social/emotional and learning difficulties in all school settings. Under the direction of the teacher, the aide will perform routine classroom duties including but not limited to monitoring students, managing records, materials, and equipment, collecting student data, carrying out modifications and accommodations such as behavior plans and testing accommodations. Teacher aide is responsible for modeling appropriate social skills, facilitating social interaction, assisting with classroom work, and attending to student physical needs which may include assisting with student equipment, mobility, and toileting; other related duties as assigned. Specific tasks will vary depending upon grade level and program assigned.
Compensation & Benefits
Step 1 ($20.72/hr) – Step 5 ($23.23/hr)

Certifications/Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and experience with youth desirable. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Exhibit good judgement, mental alertness, tact and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. Experience working with students with developmental disabilities and autism, preferred.
